A lot of people have allergies and the a/c recirculates the air in the house most people with bad allergies have A hepa filter, electrostatic filter or an ultraviolet light filter and these all remove pretty close to 100% of airborn pollutants such as pollen, pet dander, dust and hair. Also they do remove all the moisture from the air when left on long enough there are many health reasons for this.Such as hospitals, air planes and the cold air makes it much harder to spread airborne sicknesses.

Maybe they get a lot of bugs or maybe the air conditioning air is cleaner than the outside air. I open windows until I see moths, then it's time to shut them and use a fan, because night time bugs look weird. I don't like leaving windows open too long because spiders can get in too *shivers*

I often ask myself, what did people do before air conditioning. Certainly they were hot, but they found ways to cool off, either by opening doors, hitting the local pond or sitting on their deck letting the wold go by, if extremely hot.

If you live where I live, you wouldn't want to open the window. Not everyone has the luxury of opening their windows. Also what's "not hot" to you, might be burning up for the other person. Everyone is different.

Some of us have allergies and can't deal with all of that pollen. And some of us just like to be cold. Northern blood :)

Because they want global warming to hurry up, so it's warm all the time, and so they waste electricity etc.
