Just depends, sometimes a kid can ask you at 7-8 what sex is and where babies come from. I learned from my mother she told me everything when I was real young. She explained everything, don't leave your kids out in the dark, tell them everything. More than likely if you are honest with them and cool about it they won't have a hard time talking to you when they are in their teens. Don't wait too long they might be experimenting before you can tell them .

Earlier actually. You only need to tell the child enough information at the appropriate age. Such as at 3 or 4 tell them babies come from mommy's tummy. Then later answer questions they have. By 11 they have heard a LOT of stuff from other kids. Plus some middle schools around the country have boys pressuring girls to perform oral sex or have intercourse when they dont understand what it is all about. Then these kids pass Stds or get pregnant. Sit them down and tell them the truth. Dont be embarrassed because they probably wont be or if they are they will be more embarrassed than you. If you dont tell him who will? You dont want some kid with trashy slutty parents telling them that sex is good and have as much as possible etc and then telling your kid that! Inform them about what sex is and STDs. Then tell them your values, when you think it would be time to have sex and to use protection and what you mean by "protection".

there are a lot of childrens books available , some at library, for as early as like 3 yrs old..... it is simple terms and language that they may NOT understand but it will start to teach MOM and DAD the words to use..... I started teaching my sons early just by being honest and not shy about certain things...... I made sure that by the time they were 13 they understood everything, both from the female and the male point of veiw..... just look around you, the kids having kids, they are getting younger by the day..... so the earlier you speak up the better chance you can help your kids avoid the BAD choices..... but it may not work..... they still have to grow up and think for themselves, and they may make mistakes........... God bless

Yes it depends on the maturity and when they start noticing or asking questions about it. They will learn in 5th grade anyway or from their friends. It also depends on their hormones, a lot of girls are starting at 10 these days, so they have to be told about it when the signs start showing, for boys it's a little later.

depending on how mature the child is I would say between 11 and 13. Don't hesitate to take a trip to the library for reference books for your child as well.

I think that as soon as possible since kids these days are having sex at such a young age. I would say to start talking about some subjects at 8 and progress a little each year.

i think i was in like 5th grade when i was told them...so maybe 10 or 11? anyway, if you have a girl you should do it pretty early because you never know when her period is going to start...its better to be safe than sorry! (unless youre talking about how little birds and little bees are made...that should be around the same time too)

I also learned it from friends and classmates at about 9 or 10. The kids today probably know more than you think they are ready to learn--its sad, but true.
