I was 4-5 weeks when i miscarried and the doctor told me not to have sex for 4 weeks and not to try to get pregnant (try) until 2 months later.
You do need time to heal. And no matter what people say after you either have a miscarriage or a birth you are more fertile.
Most women can expect their levels to return to a non-pregnant range about 4 - 6 weeks after a pregnancy loss has occurred. This can differentiate by how the loss occurred (spontaneous miscarriage, D&C procedure, abortion, natural delivery), and how high the levels were at the time of the loss.
Health care providers usually will continue to test HCG levels after a pregnancy loss to ensure they return back to 5.0.
Ovulation can occur 14 days after a miscarriage with the next period 28 days after the miscarriage, but there is great personal variation. It may take a few cycles before your regular pattern is re-established. This means that you can become pregnant 14 days after a miscarriage if you resume a normal cycle immediately, but there is a great personal variation. It can take up to 6 or 7 weeks for your next period to come if you had "natural" miscarriage (i.e. no D&C or tablets).

I disagree. There is not scientific reason for you to be more fertile after having a miscarriage, this is an old wives tale.
Your chance of concieving is exactly the same each time you ovulate, as the sperm still need to swim up to your eggs, the egg needs to be fertilised by a healty viable sperm, and move down and implant in the uterus.
Often the reason women fall pregnant after a pregnancy is that they don't realise that they have started ovulating again because of the irregularity of their cycles..
Keep in mind that even when your period isn't regular, it doesn't mean that you're not ovulating, it just means that you can't pinpoint or predict when you might be ovulating.
As far as your body is concerned, when you uterus is clean and a new endometrium or lining has build up you are ready to ovulate again.
So while you are NOT MORE FERTILE during this period, you should practise safe sex (with a condom or other barrier protection) to give you time to regain your strength and get over the miscarriage mentally.
You are alway best to take the doctor's advice over that of friends and relatives. Doctors go through medical training for a reason, and understand the science that governs our bodies.
Your mum and friends do obviously care a lot about your well being, but rather than abstaining from sex, just use some protection untill you feel strong and well enough to have another go.
Good luck.

Regardless of hoe fertile you will be, you should NEVER have sex without protection. If you want to stay healthy and not prgnant, get on the pill, or use a condom--better yet do both EVERYTIME!!
