I have heard it said that most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be. In my experience, I've found that this is generally the case. Of course, we all face unhappy situations. The question is, will you decide to let your circumstances dictate your emotions?

Of course, as someone else stated, it helps to have faith. If I thought that this world was my only chance at true happiness, I would be very depressed indeed. By now, I'm sure, most folks have noticed that this world can be a very nasty place. Knowing the Guy Who has said "in this world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer...I have conquered the world" gives me hope. And that hope gives me peace...and joy.

I am a joyful person....one of the fruits of the spirit...this is a different definition that happiness, because you can experience joy without particularly being in a "happy" situation.

Most of the time because I know that whatever I may be upset about is small in the grand scheme of things. I'll wake up one day and won't even remember why I was unhappy so what does it really matter?

I always remember that for every terrible thing that happens to you, a great thing will happen to you. It also helps to believe in heaven. People who have lost children say that they would go literally crazy if they never thought they would see their kids again. I'm religious. I'm fairly happy.

Everyone has their ups and downs, but I find myself happiest when I surround myself with family and friends who love and support me. Over time, I have learned to laugh more and not take life so seriously. I am at my best when I practice what I preach - when what I do matches what I believe.

mostly, yes, because i don't find every pathetic little thing that is wrong, but try to find every pathetic little thing that is good, i'd rather my face be a map of laughter, not of misery
