its normal to feel sad a lot and feel extreme ups and downs when youre 13 because youre going through a lot of changes in your life and with your hormones. but if you feel like its getting out of control then you need to do something about it. if people are really your friends they wont look at you differently, they will want to be there to help you? if you really feel like you have no one to help you out they have a bunch of teen hotlines and websites where you can meet people to talk to you about your problems. you could even talk to me more if you need someone. you might also want to think about talking to your doctor or getting yourself into some therapy to see if they can help you out. its rought but try and keep your head up and see this through.

Hi Marissa..Please don't be sad. I don't know you but I can tell you that plenty of people suffer the same way as you do. I don't understand why exactly, wether it's a physical condition or just a type of deep sadness that comes from within. However, I do lean towards the latter.
I think that maybe you need to meet that someone special in your life. It could be a guy, just a good friend or perhaps some sort of role model; even religion can be the answer if your that way inclined.
The thing is that you will make a strong connection with this person. They will make you feel good inside and all of your troubles will go away. You will be able to go to sleep with a smile on your face and wake up happy and excited about the day ahead.
It may not happen overnight so don't give up, you have to hang in there and keep trying and it will happen one day; and sooner than later. You will look back on the dark days and say to yourself ..." Oh my god! how did I ever get like that. I'm not ever gonna let myself be like that again, I know how bad it felt and now I can handle it in the future if It happens again "
Please believe me, you have got a long full life ahead of you. You will have a family of your own a great husband, a good job and plenty of fun times.
One more tip, and I hope it helps. Take a look around you at other people and there habits, notice the way that they react to different situations and you'll learn a lot. You will see the good and the bad in people and be able to relate certain incidents to your own and you can grow from that.
Keep your chin up and keep smiling Marissa, like all humans you're a wonderful, beautiful person. Each one of us is worth a boat load of sparkling diamonds.
Why not see if you can shine as bright as the rest?

The answer to your question is that there are many answers, and none of them can be given to you by someone you don't know on the internet. The reason for your sadness is very complex and cannot be sufficiently expressed by you in the few words you must limit yourself to in this forum. The true answer will not be easy and short either. As you said, you can stay busy or focused on an activity (and it helps), but once you're done, you feel sad again.
My suggestion to you is to write it out. Keep a journal. Something that is secret and safe and lets you write down every little thing that is bothering you that day. I think you will be surprised about what will happen if you do. Before long, instead of just writing down your problems, you will also begin to write out solutions. You are in control of your emotions (as demonstrated by the fact you can remain happy when active), but sometimes I think our emotions want to be heard somewhere that feels safe and okay to do so. Find your outlet and let it out!
Good luck... I know how difficult it can be. And hang in there!

hey, I know what it feels like I've been depressed too. Don't worry it'll be fine and keep a positive attitude, look at the bright side of things and never give up. I was depressed for a long while. Im better now, the important thing is to think positive thoughts and to have a positve attitude, maybe you should get help from a psychlogist, talk to someone who you really trust like a teacher or a friend, they won't think you're weird, they'll help you, trust me I know.... you'll get through this

Don't worry about it. I think you're just growing up. Childhood can be a great time of your life. But as you become an adult, life is no longer just playing outside with your friends. I'm not saying that it's depressing to be a grown up. It's just that there's tons of stuff to worry about, and you just need to get used to dealing with life. Try looking at the bright side. There's usually quite a bit to be thankful for in life.
