Go up in either the Hancock or the Sears Tower, maybe both, and view Chicago's skyline.
Visit the Art Institute, one of the best in the nation.
The Cubs are playing at Wrigley June 13-18 and 26-30.
If you have a chance, a Cubs game in the friendly confines is a real blast.
Deep Dish Pizza. There are plenty of places, Pizzeria Uno (where it was invented) is my personal favorite.
The Field Museum is excellent. Sue the Dinosaur, Africa exhibit, new Native American exhibit. The Museum of Science and Industry is lots of fun.

If you are into shopping, then you don't really need to go anywhere other than the Magnificent Mile. In the suburbs, Woodfield Mall is good as well.
For art, definitely the Art Institute; it is absolutely amazing. Also, the Shedd Aquarium, the Planetarium and the Field Museum are always good. If you like music, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is amazing, although they may already be at their summer retreat.
If you like the outdoors, Grant and Millennium Parks are good; they are a great place to picnic or relax.
If you are into sports, take in a Cubs game if at all possible; its something everyone should experience. ESPN Zone is a lot of fun as well.
As far as food goes, you have to do Chicago Deep Dish pizza. I would recommend Giordano's myself or Lou Malnatis; Gino's is overrated. Also, hit up a Portillos for a Chicago style hot dog. If you enjoy rude servers, visit Ed Debevic's; its always a lot of fun. For dessert, plan a long stay at the Girhardelli Chocolate Store downtown. Their sundaes are straight from heaven.
You can also visit Navy Pier and take a boat ride on the Chicago River.
I hope this helps, and I hope you have a great trip!

I just came back from Chicago a few days ago. If you want a good stuffed pizza, another good place is Giordano's. And believe me, everything there in a small portion is enough for 2-3.
Boston Blackie's is also a great place to get a great deal of food for not alot of cash. Be warned, it's a bar, but the people are nice. And the steak sandwich - is a steak. on a bun. But it's about $6.
Check out the Shedd's Aquarium, it's pretty cool as far as sights go.
Have fun ^_^

You have to pay to go to observation deck on sears tower or Hancock bldg, but if you go to 95th floor bar in the Hancock you can have a great view for the price of a martini which is about what you pay to walk around one floor higher--don't go on an overcast day. And if the Cubs are playing go to Wrigley field and get day of game tickets. Get a cheap week end elevated train/ bus pass at the city office near water tower place not far from the Hancock bldg. Have a deep dish pizza. Go to navy pier-lots of stuff to do there-rent a bike there and ride along the lake.

The Sears tower maybe taller, but I would go to the John Hancock Building. Much better view on their observation deck.
Also, I heard there is a cool frog exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry.

Everyone mentioned really good ideas already, but I'll add two.
Visit the Tribune building (outside) because they have "rocks" from all over the world. A very cheap, interesting, and one of a kind walk. http://www.op97.org/julian/tribrocks/index2.html
The other thing I'd check out is King Tut at the Field Museum. He hasn't been here since '77 I believe. http://www.fieldmuseum.org/ but I would buy your tickets ahead of time. Enjoy and happy travels!
