I do believe that Vector Marketing is a sales job aimed at college students and is somewhat of a scam. They advertise to college students that the base pay is "$16/hr or per appointment," but it's a little tricky. Vector Marketing is teamed up with CutCo, who market expensive knives. Anybody who is hired is required to buy the knives outright and then cold call people trying to set up appointments to sell the knives. The individual can earn $16 per appointment even if the knives aren't sold, but remember, you've already paid outright for the knives. When the knives are sold, you get a percentage of the profit for commission. The problem is that the knives are not very good quality and therefore are not very desirable to people (they are expensive!).

Hope this helps. If you still want to check it out on your own, go to workforstudents.com and click on their company info.

I can support the post above, as my former roommate in college worked for Vector. Ultimately, she ended up pressuring family and family friends to buy the products.
