Actually there are many different BCP's on the market and there is a new pill that gives you 4 periods a year...call your OB/GYN doctor and see if they offered them and if you are a candidate.

You have a few options here...

1. I guess theres a new birth control pill called seasonal, I personally haven't heard of it but there are questions and stuff about it here on Yahoo Answers.

2. Depending on what birth control pills you may be on, if they're completely white ones, you can go up to three months without having to stop for a period. This is what I do, and yes I have consulted my doctor about this, she said its fine to do this. Just make sure you talk to *your* doctor before doing it. But if you are on pink or yellow pills (any color but white) it is *not* recommended you do this.

3. Depo provera.. It's a birth control injection that you get 4 times a year I believe, and you only get your period every 3 months. But be warned, its got some bad side effects and I've heard bad things about it from friends and online.

Talk to your doctor, he/she will be able to decide whats best for you.

:)

Any of the monophasic birth control pills allow you to have the option of only having a period when you want to. This should be doe only under the direction of your doctor though. They can explain to you when and how to take them correctly.

There is a pill on the market called Seasonale that is designed for this purpose entirely. Ask you doctor about that.

I was told by mine that I could also skip my period with the patch and the ring also.

Goto Ob/GYN and ask for the new birth control pill that will limit your period to 24 hours. If Dr. thinks it is alright for you to take it Dr will prescribe it. Its on TVcommercials.

My friend went to using the birth control patch that is changed out every 21-30 days. Her doctor told her not to leave off for the seven days and she would just skip her period for the month and can decide when it was best for her to have one. It was been amazing for her since she is a swimmer and very athletic. You may ask your doctor if that's Right for you.
