Many people act out of a "code" or a set of beliefs which dictate choices. It may be religion or politics or a personal philosophy. To what extent did your person act by a code or act indepently of any set of beliefs? Were there times when the code was challenged and impossible to follow?

Yes, a code of conduct, usually learned through one's belief system or of set of standards taught by parents or other significant influences. Values! Morals! Uh huh.
I wasn't raised with much guidance, my values were learned later in life. When I was 21 I had a remarkable experience that changed my life in an instant. Over the years I have pursued that experience and continue to learn on a daily basis. I've found the simple things are very easy to control of course. The outward things, those are the simple ones. It's the inward things, the ideas and concepts and thoughts that are difficult to keep in check. It really is a daily fight to keep the "old man" in control. I have to stay vigilant every day in order to behave and treat others as I believe I should. It is not impossible to do though. It just takes vigilance. And a desire to do so. Some days are easier than others. But it all comes together though by the renewing and strengthening power of prayer. Everytime.

I really don't follow a code I find.
Every choice is a moral one,
(which means it also becomes amoral)
and the calculus just doesn't appear.
Unless I force it...

"Beliefs" are too propositional. When something is chosen, and Always chosen as 'right', it flows, it eminates, it develops and evolves from my hands.. Nah that whole loopy 'backdrop' theory of a coherent system of computational belief-webs just isn't available-- it's totally indirect and assumed. Fux dat.
