You can download the patch off www.thesims2.com and it is entirely free. All you have to do is sign up and register your games. How long they download depends on how fast your connection is. The patches for the sims 2 are roughly 16 MB in size. What they do is they basically fix glitches in the game.

Yup a patch is an update sort to speak... it gets installed into the original program and either adds or deletes to it... mainly for a game you can enhance it or not... like for the sims there is a patch to see them naked... is that what you want.. hhhhmmmmmmm any how... you can just go on yahoo and type in sims PC patches and check them all out.

a patch is a simple thing that you put into your game files to make it think something is there that really isnt...say like if you dont have a cd for a game just download a patch and the game files think there is a cd in your computer...the best place ive found to do this is GameCopyWorld.com and well ti doesnt normally take to long to download if you have fast interenet if you have dialup well you better have along time

Yeah patches are usually free. You can find them at gaming websites. Try getting PC Gamer magazine or visiting http://www.download.com/
The Sims also has a lot of different add-ons you buy at the store. These help patch your software too.

It's just like what patching a hole on jeans, just is digital.
They are free, and it depends on your internet speed. You probably are on 56k, so yes it may take up to 2~3 hours, because its the Sims 2.
