There are no magic words or potions to give. Just be there for her, hug her, hold her hand. Don't worry about what to say. Just be there to listen.
God bless.

You're right, it will be hard to console her. Maybe, though, you shouldn't be as focused on consoling as you might be in supporting your mate and just being there for her as she needs you and what you can give her. Consolation really comes from within. All that bystanders can do is just that, standby and lend support and strength when it is needed and asked for.

Tell your son to write a poem for him to read to his friend or to pick some of his favourite music to put on a tape, things that might help his friend out of the coma

Just be a shoulder to cry on. That is the best thing to have in a situation like this. No words necessary

People in comas can often hear what is being said. Just be there for her, and, if he can, get your son to talk to him, even if on a recording. Play his favourite songs. She just needs to konw you are there for her.

This is an inconsolable situation. Feel their pain, cry with them, and empathize. It's is horrible and not fair. There is nothing you can do to make it better but not being there for them can make it worse.

If you are inclined toward prayer, you can pray for peace for them and their son.

She's not lookin to be consoled. Just be there for her and listen when she needs you to. There is nothing you can say to make her feel better. Its awfull. I wish the best for them.

I am sorry to hear about this.
Stay tell her if she needs anything, you will be there for her. If she wants to be left alone, please except her wishes. Just be there for her when she needs you; that is all you can do.
Say a prayer for the both of them; for all of them.
