I'm not entirely sure that the boys "embraced" the state of nature. They just slowly but surely became savages. Please remember that these are young boys who were probably getting tired of rules before they even got on the island. But if you want a good synopsis and explanation go to SparkNotes.com. It's really helpful.

Its a social commentary on how human beings would behave given a society without rules or having been conditioned yet (they're still very young). Anarchy or civilisation? Man or savage? Is it in our nature to be civilised or are we simply conditioned by society to behave that way?
Fantastic book!

i think its not human nature but in fact human nurture and the lack of society. The boys are british, whish is meant to symbolie that they are propper and orderly ((in one point in thed book one of the boys exclaims "we should be able to do this... we are british")) They intially try to set rules and recreate society.... but because they are young and do not have society to punish them when they begin to go insane they begin to become barbaris.

they reject civilation nby letting the fire go out ((which is meant to symbolie connection to society)) and begin to dance around like barbairans.

human nature takes over. eventually they have to adapt to this new place and feel like why should they follow rules when thats all they did back home. the setting and atmosohere changes them and they eventually become savage like. say you move to a farm when youve lived in a city all your life. you eventually adapt to this new wat of life, as did they. being on a deserted island changed them to become the animal like characters they became
