You cannot do many things there. You will visit Thorico theater and the famous Cape Sounion with the temple of Poseidon (best time is during the sunset). Organize one day or half day trips in Athens or Pireas (approx 1h. and 30 min. far by bus/buses come every hour) to see Acropolis, Plaka, Lucabetus, museums e.t.c. Along the coast line to Athens you will find many beaches and beautiful places as Saronida, Bouliagmeni (there is a warm lake for swimming there) or Glyfada (nice place for shopping / swimming). in Lavrio Area there are many good taverns or restaurants (very good quality of fish food). From the harbor of the city you can organize a day trip by boat or speed boat to Kythnos , Kea, Tinos and some other islands in Cyclades. try this it's interesting. Kea island is only 1h and 30 min far and it;s a typical Cyclades' island. GL
To 123 4 you haven't right. People in Greece are very kind, helpful and intelligent. Specially in Lavrio. They are very friendly (but they are a little sad) and welcome every tourist. Don't forget that Zeus the leader god of Greek mythology was the god of hospitality and for Greek people the tourist is a respectable person

Lavrio is a shithole in disguise. Two weeks there is enough to give you serious psychological problems.
I'm exaggerating just a tad there but indeed it is not the best place to visit in Greece. It has however one great advantage : It is located at the tip of Attica so it is really close to some very interesting places! It's close to Athens. Again not a favorite destination in summer but ... its Athens! Its close to Evoia, technically an island but you go there by a bridge, not very touristic but I like it a lot. From Lavrio there are ferry boats to near by islands so check them out for a day trip. The cape of Sounio is nearby. It is a magnificent location with the ancient temple of Poseidon. You'll find a lot of things to do there. Have a nice stay in Greece.

Hello dear!
I mostly agree with the above two!
Further, though, there are certain places of great interest around Lavrio! Athens became great due to the silver mines of Lavrion. Also, The famous Poseidon Temple of Sounion is very close. Also, there are many nice beached around. In addition, Athens, Marathon, Pireas, and other exciting places are less than an hour drive! You will definitely enjoy your stay there! Organize half day trips to Athens (Acropolis, Museums, Placa, Pireas, ....), trips to see some caves (in Lavrion and Peania), You will watch some theatrical performances, and so on!

Lavrio is not that nice but you can see the ancient theater of Thoricos plus the ancient silver mines of Athens. Also look for the mineral museum.15 min drive away is cape Sounio with the temple of Poseidon and the loveliest sunset in Greece.1 h and 20 min away is Athens with its Acropolis and historical center, tavernas, galleries, shopping malls and anything your heart will desire.Along the coast towards Athens you will find numerous lovely suburbs for eating,swimming,dancing,shopping..You could rent a car or use the so-called ktel buses to go back and forth from Lavrio. P.s.Many fish restaurants in Lavrio.Have fun.
