Shiver me timber lass, there be nothin' a young scallywag likes more than a pirate party with tons 'o grog and booty. You know those chocolate coins and kool-aid.

We had a "water works" birthday for our sons 8th birthday.
We set up a slip N slide
Sprinklers
Had water balloon toss
squirt guns
Had a water race.... to do this you need 4 mop buckets full of water.....two large plastic cups with holes poked all through them and then you divide the kids into 2 teams....the object of the game is to fill the empty bucket on the opposite side (place buckets about 2 1/2 feet apart... the team that fills it first wins
The kids had a blast....the mess was outside and nobody got bored!!
*Just be sure to make note on invitations that they should bring a towel and be prepared to get wet.

Depends on his interests. My son just turned 7 and we did a hockey party for him. Other ideas could be a superhero party, dinosaur dig, race cars etc. Base the theme on his current interests.

Ask him what is his favorite cartoon character, serve food like fried chicken, spaghetti, pizza and other beverages that he like.
Don't organize party that the birthday celebrant doesn't like!

Use his favorite cartoon character or sports as the party theme and order his favorite food or cook his favorite food. Or just have it a bowling alley or arcade.
