how does an efficient market differ from an inefficient one? How does the Web help make markets more efficient?

The whole idea of the WWW in the first place was to commercialize the Internet. Many companies (mine, for example) depend on the web for most all marketing. We due nearly 98% of our sales and service business via the web and only very slight walk in business and local referral business.

When buyers have more information it is theorhetically better for the markets. However, there is no empirical evidence regarding this because the web has been a ubiquitous part of society for a while.
