If you don't feel comfortable with the idea of wearing makeup, then you certainly don't have to. It's not for everyone. I find it mildly disturbing that your mother would tell you "it's time to" start wearing it, like it's a requirement. I don't always wear makeup, and the world still turns when I don't.
On the other hand, if you've decided you want to wear makeup, try some lip gloss as opposed to Chap Stick--a little color... or a little neutral colored eyeshadow.

Well you seem to have a natural beauty, by the way you explain yourself. A little bit of makeup can only enhance your beauty. You sound like you don't need foundation, but a matte powder can help even your skin tone out. Just make sure you get one to match your skin. Be very gentle in applying it though, some tend to apply and it looks cakey. Some wine colored blush on your cheekbones and going on an angle towards your ears would be good. LIGHT APPLICATION PLEASE!!! Gloss would probably be a better alternative to chapstick. There are glosses with tints of colors, you will just have to experiment. Dark reds with browns in them, are good for people with darker skin. As for the eyes. Apply one layer of mascara to top (if you want to use an eyelash curler, do it before you apply mascara. Don't put mascara on bottom lashes. You probably should get your eyebrows professionally waxed and then that will have a line to follow when you need to follow up with plucking. And yes that will hurt. But eyebrows can make or break a face. When you apply eyeliner, use dark brown (u can experiment with blues an purples, once you get the hang of it) on the top lid, closest to the lash. Make it thicker towards the outside corner of the eye. MAKE SURE YOU WASH YOUR FACE EVERY NITE WITH A GOOD FACEWASH, I reccommend Dove. If you use waterproof eyemakeup, use baby oil to get it off, along with warm water and a washcloth!! Have fun!!

Make up counters in the department stores will help you, but I've come out of those looking and feeling ridiculous. If you don't feel like wearing makeup, don't! If you really want to, ask some friends with similar skin tones and whose adivce you can take what they use. Maybe they will let you try their foundations and powders. Don't share eye makeup, though.
I'm 25, and I hate wearing make up. I have a few pimples and spots, but nobody cares. All you really need is a light sunscreen to keep your skin looking young and keep you safe from skin cancer.

I would suggest make-up like Clinique as it does not have perfumes and irritiants that others have. Also Perscriptives is good. Get some good basics, like foundation, powder, blush and gloss. Keep it simple as you are too young for much more than that. I am sure you have nice eyes and do not need a lot of make up there...a light eye liner and mascara. People tend to over due the eyes or lips. You should be enhancing your beauty not painting a face on! :) Have fun shopping!

omg i'm hispanic myself too!!!...but i love makeup!!!I cant be a day with out it!...i'm 16 though...well anyways If you like to not wear tooo much makeup or none at all, then dont... but if you and you have clear skin then try MAC' blot powder which has no color, to prevent the oil build-up, and then use a nice blush on your cheekbones, then some cute lipglass, and natural mascara since u have nice pretty eyelashes...if you want your eyes to be the focal point of the look then MAC has a nice dramatic effect mascara its called mascara X, if not try estee lauder' magnascopic, or chanel extracils mascara....all good!!...and if you want a foundtion you can use Smashbox Cooling Tint in 4...for tannish medium tones.

My advice, skip the makeup. Makeup, despite what those of us who like to wear it believe, will mess with your skin. If your skin looks good, then adding makeup (foundation, blush, concealer, etc...) will only mess with it. My advice would be to get a nice lip gloss (with a hint of color). If you want to try something more upscale and a little more mature, try Tarte 24/7 lip gloss or one of their lip stains. You get a natural, transparent look. Then maybe some mascara. If you're a blonde or light brunette, go for a brown mascara, if you're brunette or have black hair, try a brown black or black mascara. Skip the foundation, period. Maybe try a tinted moisturizer (Stila makes a great one) if you want to even out skin (it's very subtle, unlike many foundations) or try a sheer foundation like Mark C-Thru Beautifying Sheer Tint. Use sparingly. There are products that pull double duty (like lip and cheek stain - don't put stain on your cheek over foundation - it works best over natural skin). Eye shadow has talc in it and that is bad for your eyes, so I'd skip it. People tend to mess up the eyeshadow and make it look unnatural, so I wouldn't go for it. Take care of your skin because if you start loading it up with makeup you might be forced to wear that makeup because you could get zits and enlarged pores.
When picking a lip shade, find something that's the color of your lips but no more than 2 shades darker. Don't wear weird colors (purple colors or beige colors or brown colors, unless one of these happens to be your natural lip color). With eyes, if you must wear eyeshadow, go for a sheer taupe or brown, something light and neutral. And if you get foundation or tinted moisturizer, it should blend into your skin tone (if it looks like a mask with a line of demarcation, you picked the wrong shade).

ok...this answer is coming from a girl who has freckles. it can be extremely difficult to find the right make-up for yourself. You wanna know what I do? I start with a light bronzer, then use a natural eyeliner (like brown), some natural eye shadow (neutral colors) and clear mascara. Natural beauty is a rare and wonderful thing. Don't cover your true self. Be proud of who you are and don't let your mom pressure you into wearing make-up. Its over rated and over done anyhow.

Well Don't use a lot of make-up...if you have clear pretty skin then don't use a base but maybe use a soft pink eyeshadow & black mascara & a light pink gloss would give you a naturally pretty look & try & add your own flare to it too like shimmer or blush just try things out till you find what look good for you.

There is no time or age that makeup is required. If you like the natural look, I say go with that. Makeup will cause more problems with blocked pores, skin reactions, etc., and it's a wasteful expense. You don't need to succumb to your mom's pressure or societal dictates. However, if you look like Hillary Clinton, then by all means get out the spatula and apply, apply, apply!

Start with a little pale pink lipgloss and some black mascara. If you have good skin, don't cover it up with foundation. That will clog your pores. You can use some peach blush and some light eye shadow in a peachy shade. Just try to accent your natural good looks.
Watch What Not To Wear on Fri. nights. They have a very good make-up artist who gives good tips.
