When people do that they often think it will put their conscience at ease because now they don't have to worry about their mate cheating. But I'm here to tell you that these relationships are bound to fail. Affairs (emotional ones included) often result because of this. My feelings are if you feel like you need to have an open relationship, you probably shouldn't be in one in the first place.

As long as it's honest, an open relationship can be just as integral as an exclusive one. Communication, as always, is key.

Not at all... why would it? If said relationship is an open relationship like you say, then wouldn't that mean that the honesty of said relationship is still intact?

YES. If you want to screw tons of other people, you never should've gotten into a relationship in the first place.
And I don't know about anyone else, but I don't feel like catching AIDS or some sort of STD from whomever my significant other is screwing. Yuck.

Yes I do. When you make a commitment to someone, it's to them and not three or four other people. It's tacky.
