We have a yard that is about 1/2 acre. At the end of our yard are trees. In the evening we sometimes see rabbits down there. What can we do to draw them further up into our yard? We love rabbits! :)
Thanks! :)

Like the other person said, leave foods they will lie out at night, sich as carrots and lettuce. Maybe even plant a small garden with carrots and lettuce up close to the house. We have a houseful of Chihuahuas and we have rabbits all over our yard. Sometimes they come up next to the front porch. We do not do anything to bring them closer, they just like us I guess.....lol

I understand your appreciation of the rabbits and you would like to see more of them, but contrary to what the other answerers have said, about leaving carrots out and such, please do not.
They will grow to depend on this as a source of food, which is if it not a continuous supply, is not a great thing, also being in the city, it is not part of their usual diet anyways.
Perhaps you could actually PLANT some living greens, just for them, like full size dandelions, they really love those and they are a great source for them. Also they will not come up closer to your house to feed unless there is a decent 'hiding' spot for them to rely on if they ever feel threated. i dont know if putting in an extra bush is a little but more extensive than what you hoped for, but they head for sources of food and dense shelter.

I actually disagree with basically about everybody on this one. If you want them to come closer to your house. Plant a descent size standing of red clover hay around your house. Cottontail rabbits love to hide inside red clover hay and it gives them something to eat. Just don't mow the red clover. Let it grow and stay tall. I grew up on a farm and the wild rabbits would congregate like crazy in our red clover hay fields. Alfalfa would probably work too, but it seemed liked they liked red clover better.

I had a rabbit who would not stay out of my neighbors yard because he had a garden of radishes, lettuce, carrots and lots of other tasty veggies.

stand by the house and make a noise like a carrot... no seriously, plant some lettuce or other leafy edible thing nearer the house, they love to eat!
