also do you have to have a fertility problem or can you get it just because you've been trying for so long?

Clomid is *only* for use with women who aren't ovulating. First of all, that's the only thing it does to help with infertility--make you ovulate. Second of all, it has some pretty serious side effects (including cancer). And third of all, it *decreases* fertility in other ways--something only worth risking if you really need it!

If you want to get pregnant, please read _Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler. It will give you more detailed information on how your cycle works and how to use that information to get pregnant. It may help you get pregnant with no additional help, or it will at least help you determine what may be wrong.

embrace yourself this might be long...i am currently taking my 2nd round of clomid...i just had ovarian drilling done because i have something called PCOS. Talk to your OB because he can start you off on the right path. Clomid works for some people and doesn't for others. It didn't work for me at all the first time and i was all the way up to 200mg. The OB will presribe it to you and you should take it day 3-7 of your menstral cycle. You can also ask your doctor about something called metphormin. Metphormin has helped me alot. There is a variety of things that you can do when trying to get pregnant. From taking shots, to clomid, to methormin, to In-Vitro. Good luck and i wish you the best!!

My doctor told me I would get pregnant in 2-3 months on Clomid (but our fertility problems were far too substantial for just Clomid). My OB/GYN started prescribing it and then my reproductive endocrinologist prescribed it for 2 more cycles. He told me that he would not prescribe it for more than 3-4 cycles because it thins your cervical mucus with prolonged usage. You can always ask your OB/GYN about it.

My doctor would not prescribe it until it had been one year of trying to conceive.
