No that last answer was incorrect as well. I could give the Proof which i most likely will soon enough, however, for the mean time i want to see what other people come up with.

Fine Here it is
x=y
x+y=2x
x-y=2x-2y
x-y=2(x-y)
1=2

It is really surprising that there are still people who think they have a PROOF for statements like 1=2, 1=0, etc.
First they should UNDERSTAND what is a PROOF.

PROOF is a sequence of logically correct steps. If ONE of your step is wrong then it is NOT called a proof.

I think these people should go back to Primary schools and LEARN the fundamentals.

assuming you allow me to make one incorrect assumption, it is possible.

I assume you can multipy LHS and RHS by 0 in an equation (an incorrect assumption).

ie.
0=0
implies 1*0 = 2*0.

cancelling 0 on both sides, 1=2

Yes, we all know that you can divide by zero. Good job, now go away.

Here ya go:

0=0 ==>> 1x0=2x0 ==>> dividing by 0 on both sides ==>> 1x0/0=2x0/0 ==>> 1=2 WOW, that's amazing.

Only one small problem my friend... you divided by (x-y) which is equal to zero.

Except that by your definition, x=y, x-y=0, and 2(x-y)=2(0)=0, so all you've really shown is that 0=0.

It's not possible. 1 and 2 are not the same value.
