At various times over the years, I have looked back at my yearbooks and was disturbed by the total lack of originality and meaning to most of the messages people left. They were completely pointless.

If I had to do it over again, I would use a "famous quote" and a personal message that involved something I really liked about that person. If you cannot come up with something great to write, don't bother signing their book. You can find books of "famous quotes" at Amazon or just about any bookstore, and they are good ways to start letters, etc.

I would quote from funny people, and then somehow connect that quote to the yearbook's owner. I always use stuff from The Simpsons because it just applies to everything in life. Haha.

My most favorite quote from Homer is:
Trying is the first step towards failure.

So what you can do is write:

"Hey [john],

Homer Simpson says: Trying is the first step towards failure, so don't even try to be a pimp in college.

Love,
Jane"

Well I think it's funny. :P You get the idea. If your friends are not Simpsons fans then use some other funny quotes.

Hope this helps :)
