I've heard that cows that are on hillsides have the two uphill legs shorter than the two downhill legs, so that they can remain level in relation to the hillside theey occupy. How long has this breeding program been going on? Are there special terms for that type of cow?

And why do cows tip?

They are called hillfers and they can only live on hills. Hillfers are the only cows that can be tipped and they must be on level ground to do so. When they stand on level ground they stand at a slant so you can just walk up and tip them with a finger. Try it sometimes. They can be found at most auctions as there is a shortage of farmers with one leg shorter than the other. That's the only ones that can milk the hillfer cows on a hillside.

The four legs of cattle are all the same length, even if they are on a hill. Cow tipping is a myth created by ignorant city folk that have no clue as to how much cattle weigh and that a 150 pound man can't possible push over. If you run at cattle they hear you and run. If a person would ever go around cattle that person would know these very simple facts.

lmao what a green horn question. No they don't have 2 shorter legs. And cows don't tip on their own. When cows are sleeping bored ppl go and push them over.

hahaha, i take you as a clueless hick. and yeah, cows have two shorter legs than the other because the farmer needs some meat for dinner. you dont want to go near a barn, theres a bloody saw in there! dont believe me?....good for you!

There legs are all the same length and they do not tip. Try pushing a 1,600 pounds cow with a calf over. She'd push you over before you'd even touch her!
