Hey everyone is right. It is AVG that is what I use and it works, it's free, and it's the best free antivirus out there. Microtrend is great to run a free check while you are online. But you can use AVG to check your hard disk and don't have to be online to use it.

Viruses - Trend Micro Housecall
Adware - Adaware SE Personal Edition and Spybot Search and Destroy
System Maintenance - CCleaner
All are free, comes with no viruses, junk, etc, and can be found at www.pcworld.com/52516.

Once you get the AV program you want to use the use this free program with it. It is called Cyberhawk and the site will explain it. I use it with mine and it has stopped 13 infection attempts. It must be used with the AV/AS programs.

I have never gotten a virus. but I have to deal with pop ups and adware/spyware. I use Lavasoft Adware remover program. It works very well.

the best is avast home. what's amazing about avast is it doesnt affect the speed of your computer. unlike other anti virus it slows your computer down. try it and you'll see the difference
