There are a lot of garbled or just plain obsolete scripts on the internet. Access the location property of the window object:
window.location.reload(true);
This will force the client to download the page's data from the server again. See http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/DOM:window.location and http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/author/dhtml/reference/methods/reload.asp .

EDIT: After your further explanation, I understand your situation now, attempt utilising the functionality: record.region = 'your website url '; this might basically deliver you to the modern website, as a effect clean it. solid success!
