I'd like to hear about other infamous situations, like when Ross Perot divided the Republican vote; or, the gaymarriage bill bringing out the rightwingers.

Good thinking, I can see why now.
There was an immigrant's right problem but I think they blew it (purposely) out of proportion to cover the Bush - Gas - Iraq issue.

Yes among other useful things the immigration issue is doing. The illegal immigrants are also being used to undermine the US economy. They supress wages, and eat up tax payer resources. They also carry disease, hence the spread of drug resistant TB in most major cities with high illegal populations (LA for example). They are a huge drain on California medical resources.
The politicians are pandering to them because once our traitorous politicians grant these illegals full voting rights, the politicians stand to be re-elected by the illegals they legalized, they will then bring in more immigrants from impovershed Latin america to further drive down wages and if our slime ball republican and democrats play their cards right the next wave of immigrants will keep them in office as well.

Hogwash!!!! What exploded the illegal immigrant issue was the bill that was going to be passed that made illegal immigrants felons, that's the same law Mexico has for their illegal Aliens. The Mexican activist organized the illegal aliens to start protesting that law here instead of their own country. So they actually started all this up roar them selves. And you can't help get angry at gas prices every time you fill up your tank, you don't need someone else to push the issue.

Darn tooten! No matter what the situation, it happens the price of gas raises higher and higher. Got any ideas on how to distract the Bush administration, so we can lower the prices. I'll help distract them!

Why would you cover something bad with something worse,the gas price increase can change from day to day or from administration to administration,the illegal immigrant problem is every minute of every day forever and will get worse,if you think paying for gas is high,wait till you have to pay your taxes when many illegals if they get their way,will become eligible for government entitlements

Europeans spend alot more for fuel.
And no illegal immigrants have rights in this country except the right to be sent back.
we are all immigrants or immigrants' descendants...But most of us are legal immigrants.
Send the illegals back now.
