I scotch-taped a poster to the window of my car, and after two weeks, the scotch tape I used had all but fused to the window! I've removed the poster already, but the edges of the tape that stuck to the window won't peel away; they flake and leave sticky marks on the glass when we scratch it off with fingernails. I tried removing the tape with soap and water, alcohol, even dishwashing fluid (which normally works well with sticky tape), but it leaves marks. Any ideas?

You said that you need to remove it from a tinted window? I am assuming that the window has a film on the inside and not a factory tinted glass. If that is the case sorry you are out of luck. If you have anything that will eat away at the tape residue it will also eat at the film.

Take a paper towel folded up in quarters and squirt lighter fluid, or charcoal lighter fluid on it. It should loosen the residue quickly and a couple applications should allow you to wipe the junk right off. You may have to follow with a decent window cleaner.

If its on the inside of your window, you have some hope. Its a pain in the a$$, but you'll have to use a damp cotton rag. If its on the tint, you're kinda screwed an thats about all you can do. If its on the outside, use a razorblade, and any sorta ammonia based cleaner.

cheap laquer thinner on a rag and wipe gently, tape will loosen peel off and wipe glue away.. nothing with ammonia because ammonia begins the break down of the dye on the film resulting, over time, in purple tint and bubbles

In reading many of your responses, my guess is that you do not understand it is a tinted window and most anything that will remove the tape residue will also remove and/or damage the tint. I recommend you ask a professional that understands what can truly be used safely on tinted glass.

Use Goo Gone. It's available in most hardware stores. It's made to safely remove all the sticky goo.

is it in the inside or the outside, if you have tint, you have to be espically careful you don't damage the tint. you can use something like goo gone, or something with a citrus base to it. spray it on and let it sit for about 2 minutes, then wipe and repeat, you may have to do it a couple times.

Any oil, olive, vegetable, or even sweaty skin oil will emulsify the tape glue and not hurt the plastic tint.
