I wouldn't expect anyone to use inches in physics at all...

The metric system is universal and much more convenient.

Well, in my trade, they're simply called an eighth- and sixteenth-of an inch. Not really sure what type of "name" you're looking for. To get more precise, an inch is divided into 1/32 (a thiry-second of an inch - it's a 1/16 divided in half). I hope this helps you. Good luck!

for 1/16 inch, I have no idea
for 1/8 inch, chinese call it "one hoon". So 8 hoons make 1 inch

they are called just as they are
1/8 = one eighth
1/16 = one sixteenth
1/4 can either be one fourth or one quarter
