I've never pulled my sidearm in anger, with God's protection I will never have to.
In this state we have mountain lion attacks. I don't want to fight them off with a knife, let alone my bare hands.
I depend on the meat I hunt for food. I would rather not try to use a knife
The last murder in this town took place with a knife. And we average one murder a year. Unfortunately, the nature of man is predisposed towards selfishness, murders will happen even with rocks. Which I would love to see you ban rocks. The thing is EVERYTHING can be used as a tool and weapon. a firearm is nothing more than a tool. It's the person that is evil.

No doubt. Australia's gun laws should be reviewed.
The crime rate went up there when the legal ownership of firearms was banned, as it did in England. I hear they want to ban steak knives too.
A previous writer was right on the money. The second amendment was written to prevent the government from becoming totalitarian. It is absolutely necessary.

It is not like in the old west, where you strap on a side arm and walk down main street looking for a fight. In most states you have to take some kind of a test be fore you get your permit to carry a hand gun, which you have to pay for. To carry one without a permit is a felony. You are responsible for your actions with your gun,you only want to use it as a last resort..

The key idea in the US is we don't trust the government.
The Bill of Rights was written to curb the abuses of governments of Europe in the 1700's. These abuses are the same today.
So we should still have freedom of the press, and freedom of religion, and the right to bear arms, etc.

Why don't we review freedom of the press, religion, and speech. These are written on the same paper as our right to keep and bear arms
