I have a white father & a black mother & i've never denied that i was black or white. At school however, some of the black kids I hang with treat me like an outcast sometimes. They say stuff like "nah u aint black. you'z a white boy".

The white kids I hang out with never quite see me as white either. They just refer to me as "that black dude" (if they dont know my name).

Whenever I hang with my black friends they make fun of me & say that I am trying to "act black". & with my white friends, they say stuff like "he's a black guy trying to be white".

Even when we had a class election for school president I voted for my friend Nick who happened 2 b white. My black friends were like "oh u vote for the white boy but not for the black guy".

Its really annoying. Im not trying to act like either of the two. Im just trying to be me.

I dont know how my sister can be accepted as black but I;m somehow stuck in the middle.

This is something that all people in your case go through. I have a boyfriend who has a white mother and a black father and he also had gone through the same thing during high school. He told me the best way to go about it is to just make a joke out of it. He use to call himself milk chocolate and every women loves milk chocolate. You are neither black or white you are a product of I'm sure 2 very beautiful parents who made you out of love and for them there is nothing better then you. So yo are perfect just the way you are.

Perhaps your sister isn't having an issue because her friends (black and/or white) are not as narrow minded as yours?

Maybe it is time to find some friends that aren't so ignorant....and by that, I mean all of them!

I am proud you voted for someone based on their integrity and talent rather than the color of their skin. That is good practice for the "real" world!

I wish that people in general weren't so hung up on skin color, it sure would make life easier for everyone, wouldn't it?

Good luck to you, you seem like a thoughtful young man. I hope life treats you well.

The people you hang out with are being rascist. Tell them your feelings in a way that you won't hurt them, but make sure they understand your feelings. And no, you're not white nor black, you're both. I know its annoying because when people make such rude comments, they make you seem rascist when you're not.

If you need some help, (im not sure if youre a kid, sorry if you're not) go to www.kidshelpphone.ca or just give them a call [its on their website], or just go talk to someone you trust, like your teacher or a conusellour.

Just be yourself, this is a hard time in your life where people find nothing better to do that pick on other people's ethnicity just for the fun of it. You would realize who your real friends are after this trial in your life, those are the ones who don't care if you are black, white, Chinese, Indian, in the middle...it doesn't matter. Just remain yourself, be who you think you are...I don't let anyone change it.

People can be so mean sometimes. You are what you are if you have a black sis then you are too the same. You can have white mates and stuff and you should be able to hang with who ever you want. Tell them how you feel and not be ashamed of who you are.

Just continue to be who you are and don't change for any one You will know who your real friends are in the long run that would be those that except you for who you are not what color you are. May be you should tell them that this is who you are either take it or leave it. Hey look at it this way you have the best of both worlds can they say that I DON"T THINK SO!!!!!

I suggest that you stay away from your racist friends. You are both, black and white. And you should be proud of being both.

Anyone who has something against blacks, has something against you and your mother. And anyone who has something against whites, has something against you and your father.

It doesn't make sense to be friends with people who are talking as if they are your enemies and the enemies of your parents.

Racism is hard to handle. But you have to recognize it for what it is and deal with it the best you can.

I've had a similar problem with my ethnicity. The two ethnic groups to which I belong are often unfriendly to each other. And instead of having to constantly choose which side I am on, I chose to stay away from both ethnic groups. I found friends among people who don't know much about either one of the ethnic groups to which I belong. And my ethnic background is completely unimportant to them.

Perhaps you can be friends with Hispanics.

I have said for years that it is the children of mixed races that suffer for the ignorance of society's racism and ignorance of cultural upbringing. My daughter's best friend since high school ( fourteen years) is half black half white. She has had a lot of social confusion because of her own upbringing. All I can say is that as you grow and mature........ you will fianally be seen only as a person and hopefully race will not enter into the picture.

Neither group sounds like friends. Please just be you and know that more and more people are facing this.
Older people are not willing to accept this and younger people are trying to gain their own right as a race and acceptance Your time will come. I am white and so are my children but I have so many friends that are going through this with their children.
Talk to your Mom and Dad, they can help.

In school these types of things seem to be worse than they really are. Just be yourself because your never going to be totally accepted by everyone no matter what your race is.
Act how you want to no matter if your peers think it's black or white.
