It releases dopamine in your brain which elevates your mood, it increases your heart rate and gives you a bit of a cardio-pulmonary work out, it exercises all of your glands and muscles in your vulva and vagina, making everything tighter, more well toned and keeping things functioning properly. It relieves cramps during menstruation. It teaches you about your body and how it works. I am sure that it does a lot of other great things as well.

If you don’t masturbate, you are depriving yourself of a LOT of benefits.

Masturbating effects our health in a variety of beneficial ways – not masturbating is what could be harmful.

You will get worn out, and maybe some chafing – but nothing else bad will come of this.

Now, if you are doing this compulsively – like you feel anxious if you don’t do it, or if you are doing this as a means of managing your anxiety, or if it you are bothered by how much you are doing this but you still can’t seem to stop yourself and not simply as a means to experience pleasure then you may have a problem – but as long as sex has not become a coping strategy – a means of decreasing anxiety and dealing with the world – then you are good.

lots of diseases are horrible, even if they aren't fatal, even if they don't even directly cause pain or physical harm. I have very severe Tourette's, and right now, it is so hard, I'm a girl who used to be normal, I could walk, I could go to school like a normal person. Now I have to scream profanity, scream in general, punch myself in the head and chest... Oh my gosh, I just hit myself in the head SO hard. I can feel it swelling now...OMG, this isn't good...I've never...I keep getting WORSE. Forget the cussing, forget the falling on the floor and screaming, all I want is to be normal. I guess that's all anyone with a disease wants, to be normal, to get rid of their disease. I'm sitting here trying to be elloquent, understanding, while I really keep doing things to myself that are beyond my control..it's the paradox of Tourette's, it's not an "i don't think that's a good idea" before you act--you don't have the time, it happens, your body does it without your permission, you're possessed from the inside out, and no medication, no thearapy, no brain surgery can get rid of it. It really sucks. All I can do is wait.
