No. Do you remember that young guy who came in prison later(the one Andrew taught high school courses to?) Well, he was previously in prison with the man who did kill Andrew's wife. When the kid said he would testify in Andrew's defense, the warden had him killed.

No, he didn't do it. Some other guy did it and you'll see later that the guy goes to Shawshank for another crime and admits he killed Andy's wife. Just before the guy confesses this, allowing Andy to go free, the guy "accidentally" gets killed by a guard (by order of the warden), so that the warden doesn't lose his accountant or risk having his scam exposed if Andy goes free.

Excellent movie!!!! Andy didn't kill his wife. He found out who the killer was and the warden has the guy who can prove it killed so that Andy will stay in prison and continue to be the warden's lackey. But Andy has the last laugh. Really loved that movie. Hope you enjoyed it!!!

A former cellmate of Tommy Williams at another prision, named "Elmo Blatch". Tommy was transferred to Shawshank and Andy helped him to pass the GED exam. He was killed by the chief of the guards (Capt. Byron Hadley) following orders of Warden Samuel Norton to avoid him to testify what he knew so that Andy could not be set free.
