I work with a handful of Indians, and I don't think I have seen people drink so much coffee. They will put on about 11 pots a day. Just wondering if this is a native trait? Please only real answers. Don't waste yours or my time with bogus jokes.

Thank you to all who take interest.

There are two parts here - Enjoy Coffee and drink it in large quantities.

I will reverse it while answering. Taking it in large quantity > This is a native trait that Indian generally take things in large quantities. For example when they take tea they take in large mug (I am talking of large population and not all as people in cities considered themselves sophisticated and drink like birds), even milk or anything else. At the same they take it so many times (in this case even city ppl are included). I know at our house my mother used to prepare tea may be 10-15 times a day. Anyone comes my father will say why not have tea. So your query about 11 pots get answered here.

Now liking about coffee, I think that is more localized to cities and towards south of India as other wise Coffee is considered as expensive and cumbersome so not a day to day drink for villagers and even in north India.

I hope it answers your question to large extent.

Interesting. Tea is the national drink for most Indians, so it sounds as though this is a recent acquired taste.
