I am fixing to turn 17 and me and my best friend are planning on getting a place together. Is there anything my dad can do to stop me from leaving? Right now I dont even live with him, I live with my grandparents but he still tells me that I can't do anything until I turn 18.

He cannot do a thing. I think you're old enough that even the police wouldn't bother with you for "running away".

It's not all roses though, so what you really need to think about is not burning your bridges because being on your own will probably be harder than you think.

What state are you from? In NY, when you are 16, you can quit school, and leave your house, unless you have a PINS (person in need of supervision) against you. Why are you living with your Grandparents, and not your Father?

most places won't let you rent until you are 18... plus, your dad can report you to the police as a runaway... you should wait another year. sorry!!!
