We have a great deal of hope and optimism as this century begins, especially after the 20th century had two global conflicts, brought us to the brink of nuclear disaster in the cold war, and saw the rise of two plagues, AIDS and cancer, and famine that swept Africa.
All of those problems seem to be ones we can solve in this century. Concern for our fellow humans around the globe is at an all-time high, and the information superhighway connects people from other nations and reminds us of their struggles. Peace on earth is not at hand, but we are off to a good start.

The many "things" we have...cell phones, malls, drive thoughts, the luxuries of "life". I would hate to live where I had to get up at dawn to go out and work the field so I could eat. Oops...sorry if you are Amish didn't mean to offend you, just my choice!
