It's good that you are smart and have kept yourself out of harm's way so far. I hope all teens do the same.

However, it should be noted that sex with teenagers is a crime (statuatory rape) whether they "want it" or not.

Keep strong out there!

You're right. Hopefully, the "To Catch a Predator" series will teach both groups:

Predators: Give it up. If you get invited for sex by a teen who lives in a nice neighborhood, be prepared to give Chris Hansen an interview.

Teens: Knock it off! Get out of those chat rooms (Believe it or not, the safest chat rooms are political ones! LOL!). I assume, in real life meetings, the girl invites someone over, but the predator has lied about themselves. Better safe than sorry, just stay away from the chats.

And, for the rest of us, Dateline NBC has recently become really fun to watch.

omg i have a good story for you .
i was at my best friends house the other day and she always has her phone on speakerphone and so she was trying to call her dad's girlfriend and so she acidently put in the first no. of her dads and the last of her dad's girlfriends. well she called this one guy and so no one answerd so she just hung up. after like 5 min she called the no. back not knowing it wasnt right.
she said i have the wrong no. he was like whats ur name. and whaere do u live so she just said i have the wrong no and hung up. he kept on calling agian so she blocked the caller and then she found the right no. we were home alone at night so it was pretty freeeky and when she turned the ringer off you could see on the caller id that he kept on calling so then we finally found the block caller thing. when we called he dad's girlfriend we told her and she said she was gonna call him and be like
u god*mn pervert you dont say those things to people you dont even know. but she didnt acually say that but somthing of that sort. then we called her dad who was a sheriff and was talking to him for a while about it and he couldnt track the no but we remmberd the name so we gave it to him. from what happened from there . we do not know
but that day was fa-reaky

I agree with you but the fact still remains that the adult has to be held responsible for his actions which are in fact illegal... Children are not as smart as they thinkthey are or that they could be. It cannot be expected that theywill always act with good judgement unlike the expectation that adults should knwo better and behave better. Children and people in general are curious by nature and most think they are in control of their actions because more often that not they are misguided by th eintentions of others.

I am very happy to hear that you are more mature and that you know better. Perhaps its your nature or perhaps you have ben guided well, but not every child has that opportunity. We as a society have to hold those mature enough to know the difference between right and wrong responsible for guiding those who don't onto the right path - not to take advantage of them.

U (or who ever) should know what most chat rooms r about so if your that stupid to post all your info you asked 4 it. See that's why I like that I found this site cause once that happen they won't let u back on again plus it's open in it's own way that's not like the chat room.

I agree to an extent...but I have gotten some pornographic ims before without doing anything or saying anything dirty. I don't even have a pic posted. Of I courese...I ignored the person. But then you also have guys who will start with "hey" or "wuts up" and it evolves into something dirty. But you always have the choice to ignore once it heads in that direction. And you should.

The girl who was iming these guys on dateline was working for an organization that tries to stop these predators.....she wasn't really a little girl......but i do agree with you on the fact that these "real" young girls out there who get picked on by predator pedophiles put themselves out there to get picked on.....no...you shouldn't give your IM to strangers, or post dirty looking pictures of themselves.....there just asking for it, and they are young naive girls who think that they are acting older than they are.....its really pathetic.

i know that too. because of that, alot of my friends cant have a myspace. i have had one for so long now and only a few ppl i didnt know talked to me, but only cuz they knew my friends. u can post personal info on there as long as u make it so ur page can't be viewed by anyone but ur friends. thats what i did. and dont add anyone u dont know u can trust.and if they talk to u, IGNORE THEM. u dont even have ti block them, but u dont have to talk back! once they say hi 50 times, they get bored and leave! and they show it like, once a freaking week! the story is old! get over it! find something new to talk crap about! SERIOUSLY!! these 12 year olds were asking for it...and u have to think, WHERE ARE THE PARENTS????? its prolly on their computer! dont they see whats going on? i put a pic of me just laying down on my bed and my parents made me take it off! seriously! and some of these girls show so much its not funny!!!! and then they practically ask for it with names like "i love 6969" and crap like that. its stupid. they need to grow up. and dont blame myspace for it or any other website! its their own fault and their parents fault!! i even saw an opera where they were talking bad about web cams cuz they are for "porn and video sex, blah blah blah". yea right! i'm about to get one cuz i'm moving and cuz thats the ONLY WAY to even SEE my boyfriend!!! i wont see anything bad. i just want to see his eyes once in a while. just his face. let him show me something he likes or something. and i dont mean in a picture. its bad enough i couldnt see him face to face. or what about my friends? we wont be making porn!! come one. ppl need to get half a brain here!!

and yes, i too, am 15

As far as I am concerned, Dateline NBC is sick for making money off of these tricks, but then, so are the poseurs, pretending to be a kid looking for sex. How do they know what a sex-starved kid says on line? Why do they get off on it and no one says, they're just as sick as the so-called perpetrators.

I hate Dateline NBC. All they've done is 2006 is just defame MySpace and talk about the dangers of online chatrooms. :(
