No, it's not bad, I have done that and I have also crammed the washing machine full of dirty clothes before I answered the door.

Sorry~but I would rather be washing dishes when company stops by so they know that I clean my house. I don't think I have ever hid dishes in an oven. There is nothing offensive about a sink of soapy water with dishes being washed. It would be more embarrassing to have company suggest that they help you prepare a meal and find the dirty dishes in the oven. Anyway, how long does it take to wash dishes or load the dishwasher? 5 or 6 minutes~~~

no, not at all

One web site I visited even suggested putting all dirty dishes into a bus pan and storing it under your sink all the time, then when company comes over your sink is always clean!

Of course, if all your dishes are dirty, then you've got a LOT of dishes under there (or in your oven) and no clean ones to serve something on to your company...

Why not leave the whole you out on display. I only hide dirty dishes and quickly fill the washing machine when my parents are coming, my friends I expect will accept me for the slob I am.

Nope, I've done it before. I was just extra careful to remember that I had put them there so I didn't try to pre-heat them later, lol. And to all those people that asked why not just put them in the dish washer, don't you think that if I *had* a dish washer I wouldn't need to put them in the oven???

why hide the dishes...if someone comes by unexpectedly and they dont like how your house looks then in my opinion they can clean it.

hubby and me both work long hrs up to 7 days a week...sometimes we only have time to eat, shower then off to bed...this is always when someone will show up...our house is not spotless nor is it filthy..it is lived in...we have made it know if someone doesn't like what they see they are free to clean it to their satisfaction

if all i have to worry about is someone with dirty dishes in the sink or on the counter then i would have to find something else to do to occupy my time....each of us lives our life as we see fit and not everyone is "Mrs. Cleaver"

the only houses i hate going to are the ones that are filthy with cockroaches running every where

luckily my family is not like that but there is one in hubby's family that is and we dont go there often but when we do it is in warm weather and we can sit outside....

there is a difference in filth and lived in

if your company is bothered by a few dishes and mentions it invite them to wash them and i bet the next time they pop in unexpectedly they wont mention a word of what they see...lol

just dont turn on the oven, depends why you want to hide them i spose. You could ofcourse just go about your routine of doing the dishes , and the company may help. its normal to clean dishes , sothat shouldnt cause a problem.
If you have dish washer, then put them in there

Many, many years ago I would do that. lol What is wrong with it? I think it's a brilliant idea. Better than them thinking you didn't do your work. It's your home and people stop by unexpectedly so it's your right. IMHO!

P.S. Just don't forget there in there and pre-heat oven for cookies like I did once in 1969.

oh my gosh no its not bad!!! I do that all the time. I even hide dishes in my bedroom. My husband will come home and half the kitchen will be on our bedroom floor. Glad to know I am not the only one.

If all that you are hiding in there are dishes and you don't plan to cook for them....that's fine.
