Is it so difficult for people to have loyalty for those providing a roof over their head? Just today I looked in my rear view mirror and saw someone with a flag hanging from their rear-view mirror of a different country and it just seemed wrong. No hatred, I'd still help the person if the situation called for it, I just want to understand the thinking behind it.

Of course it is very important to remember where you came from, but lets not forget that it is very important to be proud of where we are and where we are going.
Honestly, I'm all for a new version of the american flag.

No need for calling out one country over another here. Think world-wide. I believe people should have more respect for those that died in combat of a country.

Most of us in the USA come from another heritage.and it is OK to follow the customs, foods etc. At the flag I stop this is the Country I live in , and the only flag I will fly. What is the importance of flying other flags I do not understand, They are all already displayed at the UN

Because people have pride in their heritage and where they came from. I dont' like that they fly their flags here, but maybe it helps them feel close to home. Maybe today is a holiday in their country and in their country they fly the flag on that day. It's just a way to feel proud. In most cases, they have no slight intended. I live in California and the Mexican people goes pretty nuts on May 5, but mostly only on this day do they fly their flags. I don't take issue with this because California was part of Mexico when they won their independence before us white folk stole it away. My biggest complaint is that they don't learn to speak English. I don't mean just Mexican people, but all foreign people. If I move to Vietnam, I don't expect them all to speak English for me. They need to learn our language or go home.

They do it to show appreciation fore their own country as well as America. Do you think some one should give up or forget where they come from just cause they live in America???
I know a lot of people say ("If you like your country so much why don't you go back"). But obviously their here for a better life. At the same time they shouldn't be ashamed of who they are because they are in America.
Recognizing who we are and where we come from is what makes us individuals, it's what makes us unique. I know it may seem a bit annoying but don't take it personal..... Ask yourself is it really a bad thing?.

It's fine to display your country of origin's flag. As long as the flag on top, If your living in the United States, for example is on top, and not upside down. I was really upset seeing thee Mexican flag on top during the Walk-outs. If a person is here, fine, but accept our culture. If you can't, leave. I would never go into another country and expect them to support me, educate my children, give me free medical care, and still let me protest about how bad things are there. Can you imagine?

At my residence we fly two flags on our flagpole.. the American Flag and under that the British Flag. My husband is a citizen of the UK and I am an American Citizen. We live here in America and my husband appreciates the country but he still loves his homeland too.

I am from California, my husband was born in Mexico.. we have both flags side by side, perhaps that is the flag of the country they were born in... if you moved to Germany or Italy would it mean you were disloyal if you flew the American flag? I think it would mean you honor and cherish the country of your birth. My husband and I provide the roof over our heads by working hard..

it's a sign of disrespect for the country they live in.
like what the illegal aliens are doing in America protesting immigration laws waving the Mexican flag instead of the American flag. not trying to make anyone mad but your here so wave the right flag. the good old stars and stripes.

there is no harm in loving ur heritage. r u 100% native american? i am sure your ancestors came from some where else. should they have hated their homeland? everyone should have a right to be proud of who they are and where they come from. i understand how it can be frustrated for an american to see an illegal immigrant comming over here and waving their flag considering i am american myself. but you have to remember that most people love the LAND and were forced to leave because of the corrupt people in their land. they come here because they are not able to achieve in their home land what they are able to achieve here. basic living necessities. the flag that they wave represents their nationality. everyone should be proud of who they are.

To prove that they are friends with others. They support themselves and others as well. The better question is why do people in the South still show their rebellion Confederate flags. Flags of traitors?

Why not? If you love another country and their culture, what is so bad about flying their flag? It's just a flag and you're free to express yourself in this country (well sort-of).
