have you considered going by coach?

Megabus.com have a service from Milton Keynes to London and depending how far you book in advance you may be able to get tickets each way for a £1, with a 50p booking fee. However it is a popular route so weekends seem to be booked up at the £1.00 rate until late August early September.

try www.thetrainline.com but you will have to register. Alternatively search for Virgin or Silverlink who run trains between MK and London.
