Most of the big banks are pretty much the same these days. Personally I do 100% o fmy banking with Charles Schwab, and I would not change to any bank from them. Their custome service is way better than a bank, and they offer more services.

That's mostly up to you and the people at your local branch. Check out the cost of accounts for what you need. If it's not free, you might try WaMu, which has free checking for everybody. If you are happy with the cost at any bank, then the only difference is the availability of branches (BofA has tons) and the people you will be dealing with. Go in and say hello and tell them you are thinking of starting a relationship. Even a small checking account today may end up being a great relationship for them 20 years down the road. If they don't want to take the time to get to know you, go someplace else. The money is just as green at BofA as any other bank. The difference is the people you will be dealing with and their honest desire to help you.

Bank of America lacks quality customer service. If you ever want to be treated like a piece of dirt, enter a facility of theirs. Definately NOT a good choice if you are finding a bank.

Yes they are. I have been with them since 2003, around when they bought out the bank I used beforehand. The customer service is great, many branches and ATM's, their accounts and services are good, and their website is top-notch. I have no complaints.

My family had a bad experience when doing banking with them for our grocery business. Too many unnecessary fees. That was a while ago; they may have improved.

I always hear my parents complaning about B of A. But, Wells Fargo is worse, they ripped me off $44. From my experiences, I'd say all banks are crap.
