Make a presentation. Fill folders with facts and information. Give a very educated estimate as to how much it will cost them per month. But honestly. I think you should about 2 or 3 days before you ask them do extra chores. And yours without being told. After you tell them all the information you have. if you have any money put it in an envelope and put money for a pet on the front. then they'll know you're serious. say i'll ask you again in 48 hrs. Then go about your buisness for 48 hrs. and ask them again. If they say no. stay calm ask why get more information on the pet you want. and give it tothem. Ask them and say may we visit a pet store and ask them what they say. Tell me how it goes please. Just email me. I hope you get your pet.

Well from a moms point of view. My 13 year old son wanted to raise a puppy. So I told him to first, get online, and do some research on the breed of puppy, and what it takes to take care of one. And then when he comes back with that information, we would talk more. So he did that, and I knew he was pretty serious. I think if u did some research on both animals, and write down some of the reasons you think u are responsible enough to take care of it, present it to your parents, and I think you have a good chance. Also I would tell them you could have it on a trial basis, where if you don't prove it to them, then you will find it a good home.. Good Luck!! I hope it works what ever u do!

check this web before getting a guinea pig. they take a lot of special care. Mine are 6 1/2 years old. They have to be cared for every day, more than just feeding.

Just speak with them like an adult. Explain that you want to take on the responsibility. Point out the good things that you have done. (Grades, afterschool programs or whatever) and see if they go for it.

since i know you, NO HAMSTER!!!!!! and start off with "mom, dad, if i could have a pet, what would it be?" they will answer, and if u don't like any of them, you can start on suggestions. Finally, nag them until thay say yes. If they do, remind them so they don't forget. GOOD LUCK!

I really really wanted a hedgehog, but I thought my parents would never let me get one. What won them over was, I cleaned my room and got it in tip-top shape, which they really appreciated. And I saved up a little bit of money to contribute to buying it, when they see you've taken inititive, it helps prove you will be responsible.
