there are attributes in our nature inherent to us as all being members of humanity. there are attributes that lead us to the better of ourselves, truth, love, sincerity, understanding, forgiveness, fellowship, etc...
there are conversely attributes that if indulged lead us to the worse of ourselves. prejudice, arrogance, intolerance, impatience, anger, greed, etc...
these attributes exist in all of us all the time. it is known as the duality of the human condition. one moment a person can be calm, rational, understanding, and just. given the wrong string of events, and that rationale goes right out the window and all the poorer attributes take hold. it is called a stress reaction and in more extreme cases, a psychotic break... no faith in the world will save you from becoming a maniac if your kids burn up in your house the day you get fired and your dog gets hit by the firetruck. don't laugh, it could happen to any of us.
the point is, no matter how low we can go, there's always a way up if the will, hope and faith are there to help guide and lift the soul away from such despair

Ignorance and rejection---
Life is a learning process and like in school, if we don't pay attention and not do our homework...we fail.
And, by failing, we are challenged and too often the worst in us comes out. We reject who we are and what is happening around us. A paranoia sets in and we begin to give up by blaming everything and everybody. Not healthy.
We become a better person when we take responsibility for who we are and the events in our lives. By staying on top of things we avoid being dragged down and becoming a worse person than we are.

Allowing others to have control over you. If they are acting foolish and you join in with them, then you are no better than they are. possibly worse because you sunk to their level instead of thinking for yourself and being a bigger person. If you don't surround yourself with negative things and people then you have a better chance of being a fairly decent person. Why would you put yourself in situations that would make you a bad person?

I know that I'm a good person, and no one, or no thing can drag me into being a 'worse person'. I'm a positive thinker - you can't get better than that!

Nothing can make you be something that you are not. A person is what they are regardless of the situation, but some try to hide it, so just hope that the people you know are good folks at heart.

That is a very good question and deserves an answer. It is our sin nature. We all come from our first parents, Adam & Eve who fell. We are also born with that fallen nature and we also are slaves to sin. Romans 3:23 says that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. There is only one way to get free from sin and it is "not" by changing yourself because you can't. We need to humble are selves and admit to God that we are sinners and ask him for the forgiveness that comes from the blood of Jesus Christ who freely gives mercy to those who sincerely ask. Romans 6:23 says that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. When you accept him and his mercy then the Holy Spirit will enter your heart and will give you power to overcome in every area of life. You do not get right with God by your behavior but from believing in Jesus who died for you. Now out of love we can live for him in his power and find our purpose in life. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
You just heard the gospel (Good news)
