Stimulated emission was one of Einstein's famous papers. A photon passing next to an excited atom with similar energy gap will cause another photon to be emitted and the two photons travel very closely together. This is one of the great properties lasers have.
Beware of "Simulated" lasers, they are faked lasers.
In Russia they are Quantum light Amplifiers.
