This is a country based on a republican form of government. To those that badmouth the US and live in the US, do something about it.
We have an incredibly good school system, above average intelligence despite what we hear. We do not go around killing each other if we don't get our way like some countries have done in the past. We provide support to other countries when they need it. In the history of the world, we are not a bad country. And guess what else? We are not even close to as racist as most other countries out there.
We do, however, have one of the highest homicide rates in a first world country. We have horrible diets, we eat way too much, but that is because we do have an abundance of food. If we are promoting a bad diet in some countries because of this, chances are the diets in those countries are not as good.
There are some extremely high expectations here, somehow people believe that our government should have different priorities, but the governments priority is doing the best for its citizens.. Be that as it may, there are some areas the US is bad in, but it is by far not as bad as elsewhere, nor does it exactly bring other countries down. Take a look at the difference between North and South Vietnam for an example.

The only way I can see that the US is possibly "worst" is in the general apathy of the voting public.
No one wants to really get involved because we don't want to take the time to understand government and what the politicians are up to.
Living in the best country in the world has spoiled us. We have too many choices and not too much to complain about. We tend to be inward focused, and assume people around the world live like us, and have the same freedoms and rights.
If we knew how bad things were in most countries, we would probably pay more attention and focus more on safeguarding what we have, and helping others too.

immigrants want to come here to get away from religious and political persecution, famine, etc, but they sure do enjoy those free benefits. the problem is, you and i are stupid enough to provide those benefits! i agree that we are one of the worst countries on the earth because we stick our nose in everyone else's business but we don't take care of our own. we're not exporting bad diets or morals, if people accept that then it's their problem, not ours. arrogance is something that is perceived, and to be honest, the ******* french are lot more arrogant than we are. it's high time we stopped fighting other countries civil wars and handing out fat foreign aid packages and started taking care of the less fortunate folks who were born right here in the USA.

In someways yes. The us is one of the most obese countries, it has very high consumerism. It pollutes more than any other with the possible exception of china. There are probably more SUVs in USA than the rest of the world combined.
In someways no. You have freedom that many countries don't have. You have the right to critize your government and call your president a monkey.
However I don't think USA is the best country to live in but its in the top twenty IMHO

As a whole, I don't feel that the US or its people are the worst.
Often it is said that there is one in every bunch - and we have a very mixed bag here. There are some very bad apples among the many good apples. It is that way everywhere.
But you are right - we are influential to other countries and sometimes we bring them bad diets, and certain amounts of arrogance - but there are many positive things that we bring, too.
Hopefully the positive will overshadow the negative things.

You're being paranoid we still have some of the hardest working people even though we complain alot. Our morals, diets, and attitudes are just part of being american. They are different, but not bad. The corporations and politics is what's tearing us apart.

Well I consider myself blessed to live in this country. What you need to look at is what your life would be like living in a developing country or a poverty stricken country. Then realize that all of these things you mention still do not outway your blessings tha you have here. every country has problems and im not denying that ours does but come on buddy be thankful....hell be proud to be here.

Well, keep in mind that a lot of other countries import all their crap here too. What you need to keep in mind here is, despite what you may hear, everybody wants American influence. Whether it is retail products, military technology, or just the latest fad, everybody wants something. We import a hell of a lot more than we export too.

I don't think our country is very good. Were rude, bossy, and butt into every country's business. The good thing is we are diverse but we still display a lot of racism and discrimation even when it's against the law. I don't think our government is being run correctly by Bush and some of the laws we have are just silly.

You are right, We are wasteful, obsessed with time and money, fast food and energy consumption. The system is a mockery of what it was intended to be. But it is up to you to change it. That's why we live in the best country ever.
