A walking boot is like a ski boot from your foot to just below your knee. It is something that you can take on and off to allow you to take a shower. Do not put weight on it without the boot on - you could cause further damage to the area!
If you right foot had the cast on, it would not be a good idea to drive. You can't move your ankle so would be pushing directly from your hip; that will lead to an accident as you won't have the same amount of control. You could drive if it was your left foot. However, I would not advise either. If you were stopped by the police, you could potentially loose your license as you are not fit to drive in their eyes. Also, if you are on any pain medication that may cause drowsiness, you could put yourself at risk of an accident. If the police then did a blood test, you could easily loose your license - really not worth the risk!
Good luck!

A walking boot looks similar to a regular boot you might wear during the winter months if you have a lot of snow or ice. They are usually either blue or black in color and they cover your whole foot (except your toes) and can go as high as your knee or just below the knee. Most of them have velcro to close them or some have shoe lace types too. There is usually a piece or two of real steel bars on the sides for additional support of your weight. As for driving a car, that depends. If you broke your right foot, it isn't advisable to drive. You won't be able to feel the pedals too well because the soles of them are much thicker and wider than your shoe would be. But if you broke your left foot, I would imagine you still might, but there again, you may have trouble either way with driving.
Ask your doctor these questions and hopefully he or she could help you with your answers more effectively. Good luck and I hope you recover soon!

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.
So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.
Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.
A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.
Heal your ankle fully & fast?

A walking boot or "moon boot" is a stabilizer. It usually covers your foot, exposing your toes and goes up your ankle and ends right below the knee. Depending on the leg its on, I don't think you can drive, honestly. They are bulky, hot and clunky.
