what can you do about chigger bites?

i was working in the feild yesterday,and got chiggers!please help they are killing me!

well there is a couple of things that i learned from experience to do,as everyone said put clear nail polish on them,or take a bath in water with a little bleach added,pour achohol over them or just plain scratch like hell!

Next time you are in a grassy or woody place during tick season (now), wear long-legged pants and have your socks rolled up above the cuffs. Bug spray is not sufficient on the skin alone, but spraying your clothes is an added deterrent.

If they are bites, an antihistamine soother like Benadryl, calamine lotion or a warm cloth will soothe the itchy sensation. A warm bath usually works at calming down the crazy itching.

I once heard that chigger bites are actually egg deposits, where they implant their eggs in your skin until they hatch, BUT I could be totally wrong. If this is the case, I imagine a super-warm bath and lots of scrubbing could help.

Finally a good question for a Smoker ! Bum a cigarette if you don't smoke, and tap out some of the tabacco. Moisten it, put it on the bite, and cover with a bandaid.

Clear fingernail polish. It suffocates them and they fall out. Still painful/itchy though!!!!!!

Honestly, I suppose you could use any color if you wanted....clear is just the least obvious....

put clear fingernail polish on them. it will smother and kill them. i used to get them when i was little....and try not to scratch.
