What did you feel? Have you taken that? What would you the next time if you found something?

I found 100 bucks wadded up in the parking lot of a movie theater once. I figured because it was wadded up that some kid probably lost it. I turned it in to the manager of the movie theater. He took my name and phone number and then put the money and my info into a sealed envelope right in front of me. He said, "if someone comes in looking for it I will give the envelope to them." Sure enough he called me the next day...the people left a note and $20 bucks and thanked me for being honest. $100 bucks is a lot of money, but I'm doing ok, so it might mean more to the person who lost it, than it did to me.

My friend and I found a lady's handbag containing £350 cash, all three gold credit cards, her driving licence and her son's business card. We were both so broke at the time that we didn't have money for anything, even to feed ourselves. It was a weekend and there was no answer at her son's office, so we called the police and they came for the bag and traced him. we didn't touch a penny. I texted the son's mobile to say what we had done so he could reassure his mother. The guys we were hanging with at the time were all furious and wanted to at least take the cash and tell the police we found the bag without cash. She sent flowers and chocolates for us the day she got her bag back. We enjoyed the drama and intrigue of the journey and the good feeling of having done the right thing. the flowers and chocolates were great too.

Sure I have and there couldn't have been a happier day!!!
I found my lost wallet in the couch, my keys in the trash can, and my license in the back pocket of my unwashed jeans. I even have found my favorite lipstick in a long lost jacket. Not to mention that sometimes I find money in old purses, clothes, and drawers.
Its really cool, and of course I keep them, silly. I was ecstatic!!!
No better feeling than finding something you have been missing for awhile!
lol
But in all seriousness, and other than the circumstances mentioned above... yes, I have found items belonging to others before, and I believe in usually returning them especially if I know the proper owners. But if not, well, what am I supposed to do? Throw it in the trash? What do you do?

I once found $120 lying on the sidewalk in Berkeley, CA. There was no one around. I certainly hoped that it came from someone like a drug dealer and didn't come from someone who really needed it, but I didn't know how the person who lost it could reclaim it (I didn't think taking it to the police was an effectve thing to do). So I kept the money and really didn't feel too bad about it either.

I also found a palm pilot in a taxi, but gave it to the driver in hopes that the owner could retrace his or her steps and find it.

I felt a little confused and a little annoyed that I had to get involved. I once found a stuffed wallet in the booth a the restaurant I was eating in. I took it up to the hostess without looking in it. The owner picked it up rather quickly because I was eating when she came to thank me. At first, I just thought it was someone going to take a survey or something and I wasn't happy to see her. I'd do the same thing again.

the only time i ever found money or anything was outside of a pizza hut when i was like 7 years old. and it was just a dollar bill lying in the snow, so i kept it and i was thrilled. if i found a bag or documents i would turn them into a lost and found.

Yes, I found a roll of money in an airport toilet. I managed to catch up with the woman who was in the cubicle before me and asked her if she had dropped anything. Her face went white with shock when she realised all her money had gone; she could describe it so I gave it back to her. I've never seen anyone so relieved, it felt great. She bought me a drink and a meal to say thanks.
A friend found a full wallet just before Xmas a few years ago, she handed it in to the police station, the bloke who lost it was amazed when he went in to see if it had been handed in. He went round her house to say thanks and insisted she took a tenner. It was all his Xmas wages.
I know some people would think we're a pair of mugs, but so what? You have to live with yourself.

It really depends on the situation you are in at the moment... in the past I have returned what I have found, and would strive to do that in any situation; however if you are desperate and you find money... I find it hard to believe that you would return it. Ethical questions are very susceptible to the individual involved with the situation. You may have great intentions but desperation plays a huge role in actions.

I've found a cell phone last year in one of my classes. I was actually gonna take it but my guiltyness went into full gear so I turned it into our school's office as lost and found. I have however found $10 at a store and waited a week for someone to claim it but no one did so I got to keep it and I've also found $20 in my ditch in my front yard and kept it.
