An SMTP (not SMPT) server is a mail server which sends email using the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. It is an open protocol which is defined in RFC 821. IMAP (not ImAP) is a different protocol used for retrieving emails and it uses the Internet Message Application Protocol. It is defined in RFC 3501. Netiquette is a set of commonly accepted means of conduct when engaging in conversation with another user over the Internet by means of text messages in forums or other gatherings.
