Any ideas on maximum items that can be taken on a 1200 calorie diet would be appreciated. I want more quantity for 1200 calories.
I mainly take rice and wheat breads for lunch and dinner. Any suggestions on how I can replace these with lower calorie items and still be full.

When you cut calories, you usually also cut nutrients because you are limiting your food intake.

This means you need to focus on the most nutrient dense foods to avoid malnutrition.
Fibrous foods such as lettuce, may be filling, but you can end up feeling weak, miserable or worse...

Some recommended foods are: broccoli (a nutritional powerhouse), kiwi (the most nutrient dense fruit), salmon (essential balance of omega 3 and omega 6), brown rice (perfect centre in macrobiotic diets, high in fibre and loaded with vitamins and minerals), yogourt, oranges, soy (such as soy milk, tofu), beans/lentils, berries (such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and cranberries), omega 3 eggs, yams, think lots of bright red/orange green veggies (carrots, spinach, asparagus, etc), and raw seeds such as sesame, pumpkin and sunflower sprinkled over top of a salad.

Avoid filler foods which provide little nutrition per calorie such as white foods (white bread, potatoes, white rice, pasta, etc.) Those will fill up you tummy with mostly calories, even though there are little of them, which means you won't have room in your diet for foods that will maintain your health.

Green tea is also great... along with lots of water which is energizing and helps you feel full. Thirst is often mistaken for hunger.

Do protien and veggies. I love doing salads! About half a cup of steak cubes with some spinach, romaine, grape tomatoes, and low cal italian dressing is my fav! Or you can have tuna on wheat crackers. Or like a oriental chicken salad. Basically, including a protien in every meal is a good way to feel full and keep the calories low. I'd stay away from the white flour and sugar. I try and keep my calories around 1200-1300 every day to lose weight. But I do gotta have my chocolate, so I have a mini candy bar which on average is 100 calories every day after work :)

Fresh raw vegetables (non starchy), fruit, soy, rice, WHITE flour, chicken (baked/steamed/boiled), turkey, etc. Also, fat free milk. The more fiber you eat the more full you will feel so stick to plain uncooked vegetables.
