i dont think we konw until this kind of situation is over, then we look back and realize, or if you start to get the feeling that love is over and u can easily imagine yourself in something and somewhere else.

the initial....fall. in this stage your heart pumps like crazy when you see her.. you want to talk to her all the time. you always think of her to the point that you can't concentrate on anything else.
Second stage is when you are "In Love". You are not as anxious when you see her, you don't think about her all the time to the point of no concentration, but you do think alot. You, enjoy talking to her and you feel happy when with her.
Third stage is when you "Love Her". There is a general misconception that when you love someone, it isn't as deep as falling in love...To be very honest, its the highest stage ever, and most people don't reach it.
In this stage, you are more used to seeing her, she is part of your life. Instead of she and i, is us and we. You become one entity, one person. Not alot of affection is showed cause you don't think you need it any more to insure you love... we just figure they know already, and we stop trying hard enough.
Most people think that when you reach that stage, the love is gone... Actually it didn't. It took its utmost maturity to reach that stage, and we don't realize it, but we are as in love with our partners as when we met them... We just got used to it, and stop trying hard romancing...That's where people go wrong, and think that the love is gone, and that they need someone else, simply because the falling in love reactions aren't there any more.
But falling in love isn't always healthy...Just imagine an 80 year old man, who's wife just walked through the door, and he had the heart pumps that you would when you see someone you are falling in love with. What would happen? He'd have a heart attack and die...
How much does this 80 year old love his wife? Well, if she died, he wouldn't survive the year...just the same with most couples who do love each other...
We can't really appreciate love as it is without the true understanding of the whole process.....
Good luck
