then how come Sony and Microsoft destroyed Nintendo in the video game industry? I remember when I was young that Nintendo was the best and everybody else have Nintendo. Now Nintendo is a joke. Revolution that will come out is no match for the PS3 and the 360. Why is that? If Nintendo is soley concentrating on video game purposes dont they have to be the king of video game nation? Not the last.

well Nintendo focused mainly on the young market, young kids were about 99% of the market back in the good old NES days, they seam to have failed to change with the times as now most gamers are not kids anymore.

The revolution will have one major advantage, price.

It is going to be about half the price of an xbox 360 and 1/3 the price of a ps3

this will help them sell alot of units, but only if they make good games will it last.

1. Sony
2. Microsoft
3. Nintendo

Here is why

To start off Sony got the GTAs first one reason and at first Xbox had errors and no one thought about the Gamecube everyone bought a PS2 4 GTA. The Gamecube didn't have a large selecetion of games to play. The Gamecube started off good but declined fast because of no games good enough to play. A couple of issuses ago Game Informer gave the Gamecube a D while the PS2 and Xbox got higher ratings. Another thing is Nintendo aims their systems at children. While more adults play games. A recent poll on ign said the average game player is 33 while the buyer is 40. I own a Gamecube and PS2. My last game I bought on Gamecube was back in like 2003. My last PS2 game I bought was like a week ago. I used to be as Nintendo and Sony fan but after the lack of games on Gamecube I became an Sony and Microsoft fan. I will own a PS3 and 360 by the end of this year. A wii even though it is cheap it is cheap because it sucks and with the magic wand I don't know what the hack they were thinking maybe the Nintendo President got drunk and thoguht it up. Sony may have been drunk when they thoguht up the Batarang buut they changed their mind. That is why.

Good question, but I guess that everyone likes PS3 and Xbox 360 so much is because of their makers. Sony and Microsoft are probably the worlds most known companies, and after they made all the good things in electronics, everyone beleives that they do better in games as well. Amazingly, confirmed by G4, GameCube had better graphics than PS2, and still everyone liked PS2. Maybe it's the disc size that screwed them up, since in PS2 and Xpox you could watch regular DVDs. After all, Revolution will cost a lot less than the other two, but still, I'm sure that not too many people will get it, since the majority still beleive that PS3 and Xbox 360 are better. Plus, another thing, PS3 and Xbox 360 have the key games - Final Fantasy/GTA for PS3, and HALO for Xbox 360. That's another reason why the systems are booming and why not too many people like GameCube. I can't tell you right away a good game for it, while I can tell you one for PS2-3 and Xbox-Xbox 360. Still I think that if you are to select one (if this is all about that) then it's better to go with the most expensive one, PS3, for it has many things that other platforms do not provide.

I'm glad you can predict the future. As the Revolution(Wii) has the ability to crush if given the chance. A big reason is that Nintendo doesn't have the huge video games that MS and Sony has. Also, they are far from going bankrupt they have quite abit of money to produce their own systems. Another thing they aren't soley concentrating on video games, they are making systems and new technologies..not just adding graphics, no game now a days pushes systems to the limit..doesn't matter what system it is just matters if they produce it for a certain system.

Don't believe the headlines. Nintendo is vastly more profitable than Sony's gaming division, and Microsoft's currently making a loss on the Xbox.

Nintendo could easily make a console as powerful as the competition - they could simply buy in beefier components, just like Microsoft have done. However, they don't think that a loss leader base machine is good economics, and so far, they have been proved right.

See what they've done with the DS in attracting large numbers of *new* gamers with products like Nintendogs and Brain Age. If they can pull it off again with Wii, then they'll be laughing. You bring in new gamers with "that looks fun" - if somebody isn't otherwise interested, they won't be interested however many polygons you can push.

Because now a days, everything is a matter of opinion. I think that most of what Sony does is becoming a rip off of Microsoft and Nintendo (case in point, controllers for the PS3). And Nintendo is revolutionizing hand held wi-fi game play with the DS and DS Lite.
I guess to each, his own.

I think it's mainly attributed to the type and quality of games they release.

Let's face it, which game appeals to a larger crowd: Halo 2 or Super Mario Sunshine?

Sure Nintendo games can be considered unique compared to your typical shooter or fighting game, but they just dont appeal to the average gamer. Nintendo's games seem to be centered on a younger audience.

I think Nintendo might be able to make itself less laughable if it released some good RPGs just to get itself back in business, but as of now it seems to be clinging on to the same old characters and starting to run dry.

Nintendo is focussing its efforts on the Japanese market which eats up games like the ones it's producing. Over there, it rules, Sony is second and hardly anybody owns an Xbox.

nintendo doesnt have the money to compare with sony or microsoft, neither nintendo is a hardcore matur audience game maker, and mature audiance is selling alot, also what else can they do to stand out beside keeping the mario, donkey kong and others franchises to themselves is like the only thing in favor, they had gameboy and there comes sony with th psp...they still rake in major though even if it is in 3rd place
